Early Family Days

Hi there and happy birthday!

I couldn’t think of anything else to add to your website today, except this.

You remember well the second car that the family had – the ’65 Mustang – right? Well, this one is the first family car, and your mother and I bought this before you were born and even before your sister was born! It was a 1958 Chevrolet Yeoman 2 door station wagon. It had the 283 cubic inch V8 with the bottom-of-the-line 2-barrel carb. It also had an automatic transmission – not our choice, but we needed something to move our belongings to Chicago, and this was best we could find on short notice (early 1962, I think). It was used, and the transmission and the engine both ate fluid/oil at the rate of about 1 quart for every two gasoline stops! I used to drive with cases or ATF and motor oil in the back of the car. I have to say, we got our money’s worth – it lasted for a number of miles (probably 25-30 thousand) and was still running when we bought the Mustang. But it was starting to rust out, as I remember. The pic below is close to the real thing, but the lower color was a light apple green instead of the light blue in the pic, and we had standard hub caps on steel wheels.

My Kia

Hi there!

Since I started driving a Kia, I thought you might want an idea about how Kias function. But I was too slow – here’s a video of how Kia considers things:

Hope you enjoy it! P.S. I hope you realise that the ad is 6 years newer than my vehicle, but the thought is a jour. To put it in other words, “you toucha my Kia, I breaka you face!” :=D

A Shelby GT 500 In A Garage For Forty Years!

This is one of those stories that you would like to live yourself, but I have to admit that I never have. I wonder what sort of karma it takes to find a fascinating, valuable car in a garage somewhere? Anyway, take a look at this – it will help take your thoughts away from base level restorations to reality. Trust me, I’ve been through two or three “start from scratch” restoration efforts. I can tell you, there is never enough money when you have the time, and never enough time when you have the money, and never ever enough knowledge to do everything right the first time!

Enjoy the video, and say “hello” to Shelby, the cat, for me – he’s my kind of guy!
